Profiler

A drama on Sat. nights about an FBI special forces Profiler and the intense cases they specialize in - murder. The scenes are peppered with beautiful people of all ages - not just young stuff, good performances, and thank goodness they brought in a new actress to play the part of the lead character - the Profiler herself. The original actress that played the part was blonde, good looking, but seemed to pose for the camera exemplifying dramatic physical responses signifying psychic insight during what should have been casually played moments. A real profiler doesn't stop, take a few short anxiety ridden breaths every time they get a flash of insight. Real profilers take it in stride that they have flashes, it's not a moment of shock or anxiety, it's not unusual, it's normal for us, it's our job dammit.

The story lines are great, the criminals are often even to be pittied (which is what homicide cases are really like sometimes) and the gore is not overdone but realistically set up. My only complaint is that the Profiler stated that she is not psychic in a recent episode. Most of her scenes regarding her flashes of insight are obviously psychically oriented senses at work, true, some of them would indeed be based on her education in criminal behavior psychology. However, I have had no such education and the relevant scenes sure do depict how I "pick up" information on a case and for that matter how I have personally worked a case. How about the writers throw some reality into the script. Have the profiler admit she's psychic as well as educated. Let her have a bit of insight into her junky brother's plight. Show the struggles that psychics endure during the mating game. It's a good show, I recommend it, though if you are tuning in put your children to bed. As this show is delivering an adult statement on the weirdness of criminals and a bit blatant in it's blood.
