The 13th Warrior

Antonio Banderas looks pretty small compared to the rest of the male cast members. Partially because of the wise casting of Viking-types this movie was believable. I found it to be an excellent example of how myths get started. As I am sure you know, myths are usually based on reality stretched to legendary proportions. This is also an inspiring example of how and why two entirely different religious groupings would come together as one by way of prophesy for the sake of all humanity. Co-operating and respecting each other's differences and coming to understand that the differences are valuable. That prophesy comes from a higher place unrelated to any one religion as it is kin to all religion. Now, that's unity. And that's why I suggest it as a good watch. However, there are scenes that depict the true brutality of the times, so be careful who you share this movie with as the special effects are very explicit.

In this story, village peoples are plagued by demons who roam the night and effectively kill off anyone who stands or sleeps. The demons never seem to fall beneath the capable villiager's swords, as though invincible. Women, children, elders and even the biggest of the village warriors fall to the demon influence, taken away and never to be seen again. If I said anything more I would ruin the movie for you, so, I won't. Watch it.
