The standard of living is going up in Edmonton, all of
Alberta actually, and while people had money in their
pockets during 1999 they weren't spending it. 2000 showed
less hoarding but people were spending on necessity items
rather than luxury items. 2001 mid year shows a rise in
luxury spending and actually less bankruptcy in the mid
business sector, about the same in small business sector
as 1999 and 2000, but there are such large shifts in the
high or large business sector that it's almost impossible
to understand the picture I am seeing. There is 1 merger
which seems amicable and one hostile takeover that takes
place affecting our Alberta economy and these are the
primary culprits of our standard of living increases to
be so high. |
