About
The metaphysical world has put much credence in crystals and their ability to create energies that are significant to better living and various other tasks as well. While they are a powerful tool when used properly in watches (clear quartz) , lazers (rubies), computers (clear quartz) and more, it also takes an expert to harness and use crystal energies to their fullest extent.
The color of a crystal is due to the gasses that are entombed within the crystals mineral / chemical make-up. The gasses are what make rubies red and sapphires blue. Rose quartz crystals look just as they sound, a soft rose pink. This particular type of quartz is often called the "friendship" crystal because it is believed that it generates an energy that helps human beings loose some of their inhibitions and talk about their innermost feelings. Carrying a rose quartz in a pocket is a great way to start off a first or blind date. Aside from being an ice-breaking conversation piece they "loosen up" a date so the two can get down to the "business of dating". That is, getting to know who each other really is! I know it's worked for me on occasion.
I find that a rose quartz used as a focal point ornament in the kitchen or entertainment area of the home instigates some great conversation and an overall sense of warmth to social and family gatherings. Rose quartz tends to relieve minor tensions that can arise during family or social groups activities.
Oddly enough, I have noticed that rose quartz has a different effect on our canine companion. Rather than loosening up his inhibitions I found it makes him feel somewhat vulnerable, jittery as if he is in line to be attacked. I was curious and asked other friends to experiment with this in a safe manner. The consensus was that this held true with medium to large sized guard dogs (professionally trained or self taught). So be cautious only to use the rose quartz when in the company of a canine that you know very well , one who knows you will not abuse it. Obviously it is best not to use a large rose quartz with groups of people who are "strangers" to your canine, this includes people whom you may have a strong relationship with but your dog does not. Also don't use this with dogs when small children will be present - even if the dog knows them well. I usually just put our Wolfspitz in another area of the home during the use of this recipe. A doggie treat seems to make up for removing him from the social scene.
I have personally noticed no adverse effect on felines nor birds. But who can always tell with them anyways?
Rose botanical oil and rose quartz are not associated in anything other than name; neither does amethyst (lavender colored crystal) necessarily enhance or work well with lavender botanical oil.
Ingredients
My favorite recipe for a good evening with one or a group of friends is:
1 Rose Quartz: at least 1 ½" wide by 3" long
1 small Ornamental Bowl - optional
Clean Decorative Sand - optional
1 diffuser (my favorite is a terra cotta ring that fits over a lightbulb)
4 drops rose essential oil (not tea-rose)
2 drops chamomile essential oil
2 drops lavender essential oil
Situate the rose quartz in the center or very near the gathering spot of your social / family affair with the tip (pointy end) directed straight up. Round cut, smooth (polished) rose quartz is not overly appropriate for this recipe's purpose.
Often quartz has a rough bottom and won't sit up on it's
own. In this case place the crystal (tip to ceiling) in
a small ornamental bowl filled ¾ full with clean decorative
sand which is available at most candle shops. Do not use
sand from an outdoor source. Feline feces contains a specific
virus that is particularly detrimental to people with
auto-immune conditions such as hepatitis, aids, multiple
sclerosis, dormant B virus', etc.
Add the essential oils to diffuser: The oils will blend on their own in the diffuser and in the air.
Warning: Essential oils are flammable. Putting drops of essential oil into the hot wax of candles is an unsafe practice, even though it is a common one. Check the essential oil label for directions in this regard.
